Biography

Marjorie is the founder of Temple Within (templewithin.org) offering spiritual wellness consulting, workshop facilitation, and yoga teaching services to those seeking liberation from what hinders, healing from what hurts, towards a reimagining and reclaiming of Joy. Marjorie earned a Master of Science in Human Services-Community Counseling and Psychology from Springfield College, as well as a Master of Arts in Theology from United Theological Seminary of The Twin Cities. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education with a minor in Theology from Augsburg College [University]. She has completed 500 hours of yoga teacher training with various certifications in different yoga modalities. She is a former social worker, youth worker, crisis worker and social services leader in the field of nonprofit. Marjorie has been practicing yoga for over 40 years, which runs parallel to her rich upbringing in the Black Missionary Baptist church tradition. After graduating seminary in 2018 she integrated her yoga teaching, social service experience, and spiritual education to help clients cultivate grounding, clarity, and peace. Marjorie is thrilled to bring all of her experience, and learned wisdom into the field of higher education as she works with students as an academic advisor and adjunct instructor. She is excited to work with young people beyond their problems, but from a place of infinite possibility.
