From the Desk of Stacy Remke:
"This social and political moment has me and many people I know reeling as we try and navigate the ever changing landscape.
One aspect that a colleague from the International Workgroup on Death, Dying and Bereavement named has really helped me find some perspective.
Darcy Harris, PhD is a professor of Thanatology at King's College, Western University, Canada. She has carefully observed and described the concept of 'political grief.'
As her work describes political changes that result in the loss of the assumptive world intersect with our personal psychology and social relationships in profound ways. So many of our clients, especially migrants and refugees fleeing conflicts in their home countries, can also experience variations on this theme.
I am sharing Dr. Harris' article here and would love to discuss these themes together as we move forward in these uncertain times."
