Biography

Michael Hoffmeister, PhD, MSW is the Director of Research and Evaluation at the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW). He conducts mixed methods, applied research regarding the public child welfare system that focuses broadly on child welfare workforce development, organizational policy and practice, and child and family well-being. At CASCW, Michael oversees child welfare research, Title IV-E evaluation, and Minn-LInk related work. 

Michael completed both his PhD and MSW at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He brings over a decade of direct-practice and macro-policy experience in the child welfare system to his research. Prior to joining CASCW, Michael worked as a Child Protective Services Social Worker for Chippewa County Department of Human Services (Wisconsin), as a Program and Policy Analyst with the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, and as a Management Consultant supporting child welfare implementation and evaluation with government agencies throughout the United States.
