Amanda Harrington Wins Award

Congratulations to our MSW alumna, Amanda Harrington, for being named the 2024 Alumni Award of Excellence recipient. Amanda currently serves as Director of Community Safety Design and Implementation with the City of Minneapolis.

"The education I received in the College of Education and Human Development UMN has been useful in every job I've had," says Amanda. "I've been able to work in various jobs benefiting children and families with one degree. From play therapy to school social work the University of Minnesota Twin Cities prepared me to succeed."

During her time in our program, Amanda traveled to Ghana with professors Priscilla Gibson, and Megan Morrissey. "Reading about the slave trade could never compare to being in a dungeon and walking past the door or no return," Amanda says. "I carry the memories of that trip with me today."
